Do you paint what you want to paint or do you paint what others want you to paint?
Well the answer would appear easy, especially if you’ve been paying attention to these diaries. But the basic truth of the matter is: if you paint what you want you struggle to sell your work, whereas if you paint what sells – what others want, then perhaps you can earn a living. But then it’s Scottie dogs and tartan ribbons all down the line.
