Der Katzenturm

or to give it its proper name: DER OBERE TORTURM - the Upper Gate Tower.

It's called the Katzenturm because, in the Middle Ages, some hapless incumbent, feeling the chill of an approaching winter, was leaning out the top window one day hauling up some logs, for his fire, in a basket, when the rope snagged and he was yanked out. He fell onto the pile of twigs and branches below and survived. The locals were heard to remark that he had the luck of a cat - for cats, as we know, not only have nine lives, but always land on their feet. Whether he did land on his feet in this instance is a matter for conjecture. But the Upper Gate Tower has been called the Cat Tower ever since.
